The season 22 premiere of Arthur in 2019, entitled ‘Mr Ratburn and the Special Someone,’ saw the episode end with grade-school teacher Mr Ratburn being openly shown as gay and marrying his partner.
However, Alabama Public TV decided to not air the episode because of the trust parents have in its station, the network’s program manager said as per ABC News reports.
The online backlash then made the Arthur scenario a widely-known meme known as the ‘Gay Rat Wedding.’
